About us
Since its opening, the practice has been a leader in terms of equipment and expertise, and we cherish the same tradition even today.
Our history and core values
Private dental office Balenović started its work in 1969. in the same place where it is located today, in the former Ul. 8. may no. 8, and today at Pavla Hatza Street 23.
At that time, it was among the first private practices in Zagreb, and in the country at the time. It was founded by Dr. Ivan Balenović, after returning from professional training in Bern (Switzerland). Doctor Ivan passed on the family tradition and love for dentistry to his children, our doctors Nina Balenović and Mateja Jelić.
Nino Balenović
dr.med.dent.
Graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Zagreb in 1993. Mr. After that, he continued the dental family tradition of more than 45 years. Since graduating from college, he has been continuously educated in the country and abroad at numerous advanced prosthetic implantology courses and congresses. A narrower area of interest and practical work is prosthetics, implantology and aesthetic dentistry.
MSc. Mateja Jelić
dr.med.dent.
Graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Zagreb in 1997. Mr. It becomes 2002. Mr. master’s degree in biomedical science, and in 2005 he passed the specialist exam in orthodontics. She completed many international orthodontic courses in recognized orthodontic institutions in the USA and Europe.
He is a certified orthodontist for Invisalign, Orthocaps and the Damon system.

Anja Balenović Madirazza
dr.med.dent.
She graduated from the University of Zagreb School of Dental Medicine in 2023. She assisted in our practice throughout all six years of her studies, gaining knowledge and experience across many areas of dentistry. During her studies and internship she attended numerous professional lectures and congresses.
Her particular interests are oral surgery and aesthetic dentistry.
Karla Žulj
dr.med.dent.
She graduated from the University of Zagreb School of Dental Medicine in 2024 with excellent grades. As a student she received awards for her work on the Student Health Care Committee of the Zagreb Student Union, where she coordinated oral health and social media for the health promotion and prevention programme Zdravo sveučilište (Healthy University).
With a particular interest in periodontology and endodontics, she wants her patients to receive high-quality dental care.
Thorough and professional, she keeps up with new findings and methods in dentistry so that each patient gets the treatment that suits them.
Nenad Klasić
dr.med.dent., specialist in oral surgery – external associate
He graduated from the University of Zagreb School of Dental Medicine in 2000 and went on to specialise in oral surgery.
Since graduating he has continued his training at specialist congresses and courses in Croatia and abroad, keeping up with developments in his field.
He has been named one of the Najdoktor doctors for oral surgery (Najdoktor is a Croatian patient-review portal). Patients value his professional approach and the care he takes over every detail.
Sara Bučar
dental assistant
In 2017 she completed her dental assistant training at the Zagreb School of Health. The same year she began her traineeship at the Balenović Dental Practice and has been an indispensable part of our team ever since.
She is an active member of the Croatian Chamber of Dental Medicine and regularly attends professional courses and congresses.
Karla Duvnjak
5th-year student, University of Zagreb School of Dental Medicine
After finishing grammar school in Nova Gradiška, she enrolled at the School of Dental Medicine in Zagreb. She has been assisting at the Balenović practice since her second year and is now in her fifth year.
She wants to build on her knowledge in restorative dentistry and fixed prosthodontics.
Ines Turčić
office manager
She holds a master’s degree in economics and is currently training in Gestalt psychotherapy under supervision. She joined the Balenović team in 2023 and has since been the first voice you hear when you call us and the first smile you see when you walk into the practice.

Mrs. Jelić is an extremely pleasant and professional person. I spent many years in her office – when I was 11 years old, she was the only one who recognized the need for jaw surgery, referred me to an excellent surgeon who operated on me 6 years later, after which she continued to follow me and complete the work. She took off my braces the day before the prom – so that I would have a beautiful smile on that special day 🙂 my teeth are perfect today and I am indescribably glad that I had the opportunity to meet her and let her save my smile. I’ve been visiting the dentist since I was little, and I have to admit that I’ve never been enthusiastic about machines that hit and grind on the teeth, various tools, tweezers and needles that “pick” on your teeth. Moreover, visiting any dental office and dentist was a horror movie for me. When I sat down in Dr. Sabljić’s chair for the first time, I was terrified because I would have to experience stress again, but surprisingly, I didn’t. Everything was quiet, painless, easy and what impressed me the most, comfortable. All thanks to the nice, diligent and cheerful Dr. Sabljić. A doctor with a lot of effort invested in the knowledge she possesses. Definitely recommended!!!
