Since its opening, the practice has been a leader in terms of equipment and expertise, and we cherish the same tradition even today.
Our history and core values
Private dental office Balenović started its work in 1969. in the same place where it is located today, in the former Ul. 8. may no. 8, and today at Pavla Hatza Street 23.
At that time, it was among the first private practices in Zagreb, and in the country at the time. It was founded by Dr. Ivan Balenović, after returning from professional training in Bern (Switzerland). Doctor Ivan passed on the family tradition and love for dentistry to his children, our doctors Nina Balenović and Mateja Jelić.
Nino Balenović
dr.med.dent.
Graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Zagreb in 1993. Mr. After that, he continued the dental family tradition of more than 45 years. Since graduating from college, he has been continuously educated in the country and abroad at numerous advanced prosthetic implantology courses and congresses. A narrower area of interest and practical work is prosthetics, implantology and aesthetic dentistry.
MSc. Mateja Jelić
dr.med.dent.
Graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Zagreb in 1997. Mr. It becomes 2002. Mr. master’s degree in biomedical science, and in 2005 he passed the specialist exam in orthodontics. She completed many international orthodontic courses in recognized orthodontic institutions in the USA and Europe.
He is a certified orthodontist for Invisalign, Orthocaps and the Damon system.

Marija Sabljic

She graduated in 2014. at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Zagreb. Balenović joined the practice team in 2013. as an assistant during her studies, and after completing her studies, she continues her work as a doctor of dental medicine.
In addition to his work, he regularly improves his skills at numerous professional lectures and congresses.
She shows a special interest in prosthetics and surgery, and she completed a postgraduate specialist study in dental implantology and is part of the team that solves all the patients’ concerns about missing teeth.
Tino Carev
dr.med.dent.
He graduated in 2019 from the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of Zagreb. He decides to study dentistry after finishing high school to become a dental technician at the University of Health in Zagreb.
During his studies and internship, he participated in numerous professional lectures and congresses. His special area of interest is dental prosthetics and periodontal surgery.
Sara Bučar
dental assistant
Ends 2017. in high school, majoring in dental assistant at the University of Health in Zagreb. In the same year, he began his internship at the Balenović Dental Practice, and from then on he became an indispensable part of our team.
He is an active member of the Croatian Chamber of Dental Medicine and regularly improves his skills at professional courses and congresses.
Bruna Drenek
student of the 2nd year of professional nursing studies
In 2019, she graduates from the high school for nurses in Mlinarska. Shortly after completion, he becomes part of our team.
She is an active member of the Croatian Chamber of Nurses, with whose lectures and courses she is constantly improving. With solid foundations and experience, she builds on her vocation in the 2nd year of Professional Nursing Studies.
Anja Balenović
6th year student of the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Zagreb
After the end of XVI. grammar school in Zagreb, 2017. entered the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Zagreb. Today, she is a regular student of the 6th year of the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Zagreb, and soon she will join our team as a doctor of dental medicine and continue the family tradition.
In the practice, she assists the doctors of dental medicine and very quickly adopts and solves all the tasks and challenges that are put before her. In the future, she would like to further develop her skills in the field of oral surgery.
Ana Gabud
5th year student of the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Zagreb
After completing the 7th gymnasium in Zagreb, in 2017 he entered the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Zagreb. Today, she is a 5th year student, she assists in our office almost every day and shows great interest in the profession.
He especially wants to upgrade his knowledge in the field of pediatric dentistry and fixed prosthetics.

Mrs. Jelić is an extremely pleasant and professional person. I spent many years in her office – when I was 11 years old, she was the only one who recognized the need for jaw surgery, referred me to an excellent surgeon who operated on me 6 years later, after which she continued to follow me and complete the work. She took off my braces the day before the prom – so that I would have a beautiful smile on that special day 🙂 my teeth are perfect today and I am indescribably glad that I had the opportunity to meet her and let her save my smile. I’ve been visiting the dentist since I was little, and I have to admit that I’ve never been enthusiastic about machines that hit and grind on the teeth, various tools, tweezers and needles that “pick” on your teeth. Moreover, visiting any dental office and dentist was a horror movie for me. When I sat down in Dr. Sabljić’s chair for the first time, I was terrified because I would have to experience stress again, but surprisingly, I didn’t. Everything was quiet, painless, easy and what impressed me the most, comfortable. All thanks to the nice, diligent and cheerful Dr. Sabljić. A doctor with a lot of effort invested in the knowledge she possesses. Definitely recommended!!!
